This makes it apparently impossible to create a content filter on content fields unless they are also searchable.

It is a regression from 5.0 to 5.1 (happened after rc-1).

It might relate to confusion between "search for content" (as in: fulltext search) and "filter content" (as in: php code should be able to filter exactly what it wants) in the new API
