Stored XML can contain <item> elements for draft version.
These are processed and removed on publish, therefore to reproduce follow:

1. create a draft of an object containing ezpage fieldtype
2. add an item to one of the blocks
3. store draft
4. try to load content in unpublished version

The problem comes from <item> data not being correctly mapped to the Item object.
