Steps to reproduce

Try fetching node id 1 and then try fetching the parent via attribute "parent". You will recieve the node itself.

If you do that in a loop to go upwards the tree while parent is "true" you end up in a endless loop.

A more logical behavior would be to get "null", cause there is no parent anymore.
